Famed fashion designer and alum Halston’s (SAIC 1952) life is the subject of Netflix’s recent miniseries, Halston. The series, produced by Ryan Murphy and starring Ewan McGregor in the titular role, follows the rise and fall of the internationally renowned designer’s career. Halston was considered America’s first fashion star by many, and found success designing classic pieces that offered women comfort while retaining a distinctive allure. He was also influential in the design of uniforms, creating looks for the Girl Scouts, Braniff Airlines, and the US Olympic team in 1976. Halston premiered on the streaming service May 14.
