Mitchell Visiting Professor

The William Bronson and Grayce Slovet Mitchell Visiting Professor in the Department of Architecture, Interior Architecture and Designed Objects is appointed to contribute experimental practices to an interdisciplinary community of artists and designers.

The Mitchell Visiting Professor holds a full-time, one year appointment to teach two, three-credit courses or one six-credit courses a semester. In addition, the Mitchell Professor delivers a public lecture or organizes a public program as part of the Department's Mitchell Lecture Series.

2016-17 Mitchell Visiting Professor - Stuart Candy

Stuart Candy is an award-winning experiential futurist and strategic facilitator who has brought possible worlds to life in festivals, museums, and city streets worldwide.

Over the past decade he has raised the visibility and impact of foresight through collaborative innovation in games, media, and design. He has taught at top design schools and worked with organizations including the United Nations Development Programme, IDEO, the University of Oxford, Burning Man, and the National Film Board of Canada, and helped create the 2016 Museum of the Future exhibition for the World Government Summit in Dubai.

Dr. Candy is an Expert Advisor to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (Geneva), and the first Fellow of the Museum of Tomorrow (Rio de Janeiro) and The Long Now Foundation (San Francisco).
