Faculty Suma Ikeuchi Is Awarded a National Science Foundation Grant

Suma Ikeuchi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Liberal Arts

Suma Ikeuchi, assistant professor in the Liberal Arts department, is the recipient of a $75,788 grant from the National Science Foundation. In the upcoming year, Ikeuchi will embark to Japan to conduct research for her project titled Dimensions of Care: Giving and Eldercare Technology in an Aging Society. Awarded to researchers working in the field of science and engineering, the award will support her investigations in migrant care labor, care technology for the elderly, and levels of kinship in Japan. Trained as an anthropologist, Ikeuchi teaches courses engaged in topics of religion, diaspora, rituals, and nationhood.
