The Guardian recently interviewed SAIC's Scientist-in-Residence Dr. Eugenia Cheng (Liberal Arts) about her fascination with infinity and the power of food as an analogy for teaching mathematics. Cheng told the Guardian, “I realised that whenever an anecdote involved food, my students perked up. One day, one of my students called out 'Explain some maths using Oreo cookies', and I realised they represented something we were going to do in the lecture that day.” Cheng, the author of How to Bake Pi, has also recently released Beyond Infinity: An Expedition into the Outer Limits of Mathematics and an article titled "The Logic of Our Fear of Flying" in the Wall Street Journal.
