Alum Darryl DeAngelo Terrell’s (MFA 2017) work on COVID Diaries, a multimedia project launched by WDET and Documenting Detroit, was recently recognized by the Radio Television Digital News Association’s Edward R. Murrow Awards, which have honored “outstanding achievements in electronic journalism since 1971.” The project received this year’s “Excellence in Innovation” award.

COVID Diaries showcased the work of five Detroit photographers, including Terrell, and one creative writer as they navigated the ongoing pandemic and social justice movement—telling stories of resilience through their eyes.
