SAIC alum, Rosa Halpern (BFA 2014) was recently featured in the Coveteur fashion magazine. She spoke to the publication about the launch of her Toronto-based label, Namesake, which specializes in customized leather jackets. Halpern's brand is structured around strong female figures, and the jackets carry the names of these women; from Frida Kahlo and Isadora Duncan to Rosa Parks and Yoko Ono.
Halpern decided to pursue fashion at SAIC, because "[SAIC] has a more conceptual approach to fashion. They’re more interested in avant-garde and teaching you how to think like a designer," she says.
