Institutional Review Board

The mission of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is to ensure that research involving human participants conducted by members of the SAIC community is done in a safe and ethical manner.

The IRB at SAIC operates out of the Office of the Provost and is guided by the regulations established by the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

These pages will familiarize you with the role of an IRB in human subject research, help you determine if an IRB review is appropriate for your research, and provide an overview of the process for obtaining research approval at SAIC.
