The artists' books in this exhibition demonstrate methods of using both quantitative and qualitative research in an artistic practice. These practices marry knowledge produced through working with archives, direct observation, and data derived from primary and secondary sources with intuitive, poetic, and aesthetic modes of analysis and presentation. No realm is off limits. These artists remind us that it is the poking and prying at the hard centers and hazy edges of knowledge that facilitates understanding and propels thought forward.
