Parlor Room and the Photography Department welcome renowned photographer, Susan Lipper to SAIC for a lecture on her work spanning four decades. Upon receiving her MFA from Yale in 1983, Lipper set out devoting herself to a photographic practice that has since culminated in several museum exhibitions and monographs of her work - most notably the work of Grapevine, created between 1988 and 1992 within a small community in West Virginia and trip, a collaborative effort with writer, Frederick Barthleme. With her diaristic style that is both inquisitive and playful, Lipper has continually explored the boundaries of both documentary photography and the multitude of fictions we encounter in our world. We are pleased to present this evening lecture for our students, faculty and staff.
