Travel to Paris and London for a double treat of studio and art history on the subject of Realism--a significant genre of art in both subject and style since the beginning of Modernism in the 19th century. Studio activity will complement art history lectures as we tour the great museums and galleries of Paris and London. Those of the past-- Atget, Bayard, Courbet, Manet, and Morisot, as well as more contemporary realists such as Sylvie Fleury, Urs Fischer, or David Hammons will reveal the power of this revolutionary style--then and now. Get ready to hit the streets and record your interpretations of the real, while studying the great examples of artists in the context of two magnificent cities.
