Disability Etiquette Training

Joe Albritton, Deputy Commissioner, Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities, will provide Disability Awareness and Etiquette training that identifies appropriate approaches and strategies when interacting with people with disabilities in professional, social and recreational/leisure settings. Participants will learn how to be inclusive of individuals with disabilities while avoiding discriminatory behavior. Using the "Communication, Courtesy, and Common Sense" model - these techniques are taught on proper etiquette toward people who are Blind/Visually Impaired, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Mobility Impaired, Speech Impaired, and have Mental Illness, Intellectual Disabilities, as well Hidden Disabilities. The use of Person-First Language is also covered.
