Calibrated Lens: A Focus on South Side Narratives

Monday, March 25, 6:00 p.m.
LeRoy Neiman Center

A conversation with Lee Bey, Candace Ming of South Side Home Movie Project, and Eric Hotchkiss. Moderated by Natalie Moore.

Calibrated Lens portrays the multi-dimensional built environment that has evolved over decades on Chicago’s South Side through moving and still images, and acts of resilience and relaxation developed by residents in these spaces.

Rooted within the architecture, constructed objects, and daily lives of residents, a history of community creativity and collective action manifests within familiar scenes of play, convening, and recreation. These visual narratives of South Side spaces are presented through a multi-faceted lens, with each moment referenced through objects, films, photos, and sound drawn from South Side lives.

The "Calibrated Lens" exhibition is on display in The Hallway Gallery until March 29th. More information here
