Hamza Walker is the Director of LAXART, an independent nonprofit art space in Los Angeles, California. He teaches in the Low-Residency MFA Program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He was the Director of Educations and the Associate Curator at the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago (1994-2016), a non-collecting museum devoted to contemporary art. He received his BA in Art History from the University of Chicago.
