The 2018 Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD) Symposium (November 7-9, 2018), Artists/Designers/Citizens, explores how the practice and study of art and design offer ways of seeing, intervening and belonging as a citizen. In collaboration, the Flaxman Library has selected materials that reflect this theme or are authored by symposium speakers. Titles will be on view for the duration of the symposium in the display area at the front of the library.
Build Your Own Canon comprises a participatory bibliography and collection of texts on themes of citizenship and other topics discussed at the symposium. Presenters were asked for a text (article or chapter section) that might best reference/represent/has inspired their presentation. A selection have been printed for AICAD participants and are available in the Ballroom through November 9.
