This event is free and open to the public.
Co-sponsored by the Department of Visual and Critical Studies, Chinese Students and Scholars Association, the Department of Student Affairs, the Department of International Affairs, Student Government, and the Office of the Dan of Faculty.
Speaking will be two visiting Chinese studies scholars, Ling Yang of Xiamen University, PRC, and Jing Jamie Zhao from the University of Warwick, UK. Other speakers include SAIC alumnus Kanthy Peng, VCS student Ellie Tse, and Maud Lavin, professor in the Department of Visual and Critical Studies and the Department of Art History, Theory, and Criticism.
Topics of discussion include international love stories in Hetalia, Chinese reception and fan rewritings of The L-Word, growing up in the SusuNaru fandom, and Hong Kong fans of K-Pop.
The discussion will be followed by a reception in the SAIC Ballroom.
