Tricia Van Eck is Artistic Director of 6108North, an art space that challenges what art is, whom it’s for, where it is shown, and how it is created. Named after its Edgewater mansion’s address, 6018North is also itinerantly presenting shows around Chicago, nationally, and internationally, such as the critically acclaimed Home on Ohio Street Beach and Rooting (India); The Knowledge Project at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale in India, to connect Chicago artists with local and international audiences. Before founding 6018North, Van Eck worked 13 years as a curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, organizing more than 70 exhibitions and programs. Currently, Van Eck is working with Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events to co-curate its Year of Public Art: 50 x 50 Neighborhood Arts Project and create the corresponding catalogue. She serves on the Board of Chicago Artists’ Coalition, Navy Pier’s Program and Guest Committee, CPS Lives, and is a mentor for Hyde Park Art’s Center, where she curated their 2015 Front and Center exhibition. For SAIC she is a 2019 MFA Show Guest Curator.
