Joshua Nathanson (b. 1976, Washington, D.C., lives and works in Los Angeles, CA) received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY and his MFA from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA. During his undergraduate and graduate years, he studied under Mike Kelley, Christopher Williams, Liz Larner, Richard Hawkins, Haim Steinbach, and Marilyn Minter. In the fall of 2015, Nathanson had his first solo exhibition at Various Small Fires, and has recently been included in museum exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Whitechapel Gallery, UK and the Yokohama Museum, Japan. Other recent venues to have hosted Nathanson’s work in a group context include ARNDT, Singapore and 356 S. Mission, Los Angeles. Nathanson has had solo exhibitions at Luce Gallery, Turin, Italy and Kaikai Kiki Gallery, Tokyo. He will have a solo exhibition of new works at Yuz Museum, Shanghai in 2018. Nathanson's work has been written about in Frieze Magazine and Artforum and is part of the permanent collections of Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
