“We’re joined by this belief that design shapes the way we live, that it’s the reason we walk through doors and corridors with purpose," says Matylda Krzykowski, designer, curator, advisor and current Mitchell Visiting Professor at the AIADO department of The School of Art Institute.

In her lecture, Matylda Krzykowski will present a "Desktop Exhibition," a public presentation of her desktop. Matylda Krzykowski clicks on files and talks the audience through the curated show, similar to walking through a physical, institutional space in a guided tour. The topic of the lecture will deal with "Formats," both physically and online, as exploration of informality and method to challenge expectations of the audience.

The curatorial format was first presented in October 2017 at a conference titled "Is Technology Sexist?" by Chus Martinez at Institut Kunst, Basel. Krzykowski developed the curatorial format shortly after closing Depot Basel, a place for contemporary design, which she co-founded and co-directed between 2011 and 2017.
