SAIC students have the incredible advantage of studying art on a museum campus. As the Art Institute of Chicago developed from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, both institutions maintain an interconnected relationship that allows studio artists, student art historians, and developing art administrators free access to the museum with their student ID card in order to study the galleries for their own practice. Arts Administration and Policy classes allow students interested in museums and cultural/educational hubs to closely study the AIC’s galleries, resources, and programming to develop a deeper understanding of how museums act as forums to exchange a range of ideas with the public, while many Art History courses allow students to closely examine the work of fellow makers past and present. Please see your advisor to discuss course listings related to museum studies. Sample courses are listed below.
