DUSABLE
PARK PROPOSAL PROJECT
I propose that DuSable Park be paved into a parking lot that would be
stocked with MobileHedges. When the land is eventually claimed for commercial
redevelopment or needed to park the urban worker’s auto, the MobileHedges
would be moved on to another site.
Since the birth of the Industrial Revolution, the Public Land Preservationists
have been fighting a losing battle against Commercial Developers. The
survival of 21st Century parks and gardens will depend on their ability
to be mobile. Urban gardens of the future should be planted in trailers,
as dense, impenetrable Hedges that can be moved on to the next location
as the need arises.
