This painting features Abraham Lincoln looking down in deep contemplation. The painting faces east, and appears to have been installed in relationship to the bronze sculpture Lincoln, the Man (popularly called Standing Lincoln), by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, which is outside in Lincoln Park and can be viewed from the gallery window.
