Your First Step

If you are interested in participating in the Co-op, you must attend an Orientation Session or complete the Online Orientation.

At the in-person Orientation, an appointment will be scheduled to meet with a member of the Co-op staff or a Faculty Advisor.  For those completing the online orientation, the Co-op office will call you to set up an appointment.

At this appointment, your resume and portfolio will be reviewed.  Then together, you will go through the Co-op opportunities and recommendations that match your interests, career goals, and skill level will be made.

After your appointment, you will come away with internship leads.  What now?

Each internship lead contains the name, contact information, and descriptions of responsibilities for each employer.  You will then contact the employers to set up an interview.

Things to consider before your interview:

  • Update your resume with suggestions given to you by Co-op staff/Advisor (Resume guides are available online or in the Co-op office)
  • Prepare documentation of your work
  • Look your best – first impressions do matter

After interviewing, then what?

If you have been offered and accepted a position, you must return to the Co-op office and a staff member will register you.

If you haven’t found the right fit, don’t give up! We have new positions daily and it’s important to check back in with the Co-op office to attain more leads and hear further suggestions.

But wait, what if I already have an internship in mind, how do I proceed?

If you have an employer in mind, and they have not been recruited to the Co-op Program, let our office know so we can make contact with them to represent you and get the necessary information in order for you to ultimately register for the Co-op.

If you know that the employer is already within the Co-op Program, you can simply come into our office to register.
