Instructional Fabrication: Columbus Digital Fabrication Studio
The Columbus Digital Fabrication Studio (CDFS) is a general-access laser cutting lab in the Columbus Drive Building. The facilities include Trotec laser engravers, Universal laser engraver, a Roland CNC mill, Ultimaker 3D printers, Lulzbot 3D printers, 3D scanners, a fletcher cutter, digital fabrication tools, computers, and so much more!
The laser cutters at CDFS are available to currently enrolled students and active faculty and staff at SAIC. All users must attend an authorization prior to using the laser cutter. The laser cutters are self-serve; users must run cutting jobs themselves, with the supervision of a lab monitor. See the Laser Access Policy page for details.
Authorizations are conducted on a regular basis, and are approximately 45 minutes in duration. Authorizations are good for one calendar year at both the Advanced Output Center and the Columbus Digital Fabrication Studio. Signup in person at the Columbus Digital Fabrications Studio - RM 126.
