Sullivan Galleries: Full Schedule
December 8–February 1
Reception: Friday, December 7, 4:30–7:00 p.m.
Sullivan Galleries, 33 S. State St., 7th floor
Featuring current students and recent alumni, the New Work exhibition demonstrates the tipping point between what has already been done and what is yet to come. Freshly minted work is an ongoing alchemical process for many artistic studio practices. At once autonomous and interdependent on past work, the glimpses may not be authentically new, though their relationships certainly are. If newness is a myth, this exhibition seeks to reconsider how bodies of work are created, and often reimagined, depending on the instance when they are viewed. Perhaps newness is a threshold, which despite its potential novelty, is above all vulnerable and unimpaired. Curated by graduate curatorial assistants Ann Meisinger (Dual MA 2014), Stephanie Cristello (BFA 2013), and Gibran Villalobos (Dual MA 2013).
