Bio

As a transmale, first generation Mexican-American, born on the border of the United States and Mexico to an immigrant mother, I occupy a divergent space in American culture. As a result, the primary focus of my work is rooted in defining and redefining issues that subsist within marginalized identities. Drawing from personal narrative, I explore this landscape of constructed normativities, ethnocentrism, and privilege through various mediums such as performance, video, and installation. In dissecting these topics, I am able to question the binaries of gender, sexuality, race and the sociopolitical structures that inhabit them.
