I became a designer at the age of 10 when I entered the logo design contest for the Cleveland Browns. Though I suffered through the rejection, I fell in love with design and have carried a sketchbook ever since. I graduated with a degree in graphic design from the University of Cincinnati and proceeded onto various jobs in magazines, studios, and agencies before forming Petrick Design in 1986. I approach my clients' businesses with intellectual curiosity and my own business with the view that "grid is good" and a flush world is a clean world. I have been fortunate to help craft brands such as Goose Island Brewing Co., the Second City, Farnsworth House, WXRT radio, Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, and the Old Town School of Folk Music. My work has been featured in CA Magazine, Graphis, Print, Art Direction, and Graphic Design: USA. I am honored to have a piece included in the Permanent Design Collection of the Library of Congress. It is also somewhat gratifying to know that, to this day, the Cleveland Browns remain the only team in the NFL without a logo on their helmet.
