Personal Statement

I am a researcher at Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) and instructor at the School of Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). My scientific research focuses on rehabilitation robotics and developing body-machine interfaces. The purpose of my work is to give independence to and improve the quality of life for the people with disabilities.

I believe the technologies that we have today were mostly initiated by the imagination of great artists. Where did you see the first robot? or the first phone? or the first touch screen?

I see my class at SAIC as a bridge between art and science. My goal is to create an atmosphere for the students to explore different aspects of the existing technologies and the meaning behind their science.
