Personal Statement

At college I was taught that design is a creative solution. Years in business has shown me that design is a human-centered tool to build strategic solutions. But working with students has taught me that design is also about bringing your own personal expression to the design. Design can also be art.

Teaching needs to encourage an independent spirit in students. Within months they will graduate and step out into a highly competitive working world. They need to be equipped to think independently yet work collaboratively. They need to be able to present their ideas in a clear, confident manner. I encourage students to overcome any reluctance or shyness so they can find their own way whether it’s in a classroom or beyond.
