The prestigious award celebrates U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate excellence in prioritizing and promoting the health and well-being of their students, and SAIC is one of only six colleges across the U.S. to receive the award.

SAIC Names Arnold J. Kemp Dean of Graduate Studies

CHICAGO—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), a global leader in art and design education, announced the appointment of Arnold J. Kemp as the School’s dean of graduate studies. Concurrent with this appointment, Kemp joins the faculty of the Department of Painting and Drawing as a professor. Kemp comes to SAIC from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) where he is an associate professor and the chair of the Department of Painting and Printmaking.

SAIC Announces 2016 Fellowship Recipients

CHICAGO—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), a leader in educating artists and designers, announced the recipients of its most prestigious awards: 2016 Claire Rosen and Samuel Edes Foundation Prize for Emerging Artists, Toby Devan Lewis Fellowship, James Nelson Raymond Fellowships, Municipal Art League Fellowship, Carrie Ellen Tuttle Fellowship, SAIC Berlin Residency and the Clay Morrison Scholarship.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago Is Awarded $75,000 NEA Grant

CHICAGO—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) were awarded a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant of $75,000 in support of the Homan Square Arts Initiative (HSAI), a suite of programs that SAIC is offering in Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood.

CHICAGO—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), a global leader in art and design education, announced the launch of its first-ever significant fundraising campaign, a milestone in the School’s 150-year history. The comprehensive campaign—Beautiful/Work: The Campaign for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago—aims to raise $50 million by 2018 to increase funding for student scholarships and faculty resources.

SAIC Transforms Garfield Park Conservatory From Flora To Fashion For New Exhibition

CHICAGO—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), a global leader in art and design education, is transforming the Garfield Park Conservatory from flora to fashion in the first exhibition of its kind showcasing the work of the School’s internationally renowned Fashion Design students. The exhibition is free and open to the public and runs from May 13–15.

SAIC Names Craig Barton As Provost And Senior Vice President Of Academic Affairs

CHICAGO—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), a global leader in art and design education, announced the appointment of Craig Barton as the School’s provost and senior vice president of academic affairs. Concurrent with this appointment, Barton joins the faculty of the Department of Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Designed Objects as a professor. Barton comes to SAIC from Arizona State University where he is a professor of architecture and urban design and the director of The Design School at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts.
