SAIC Receives More Than $1 Million Through Bank of America Art Auction

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), one of the nation’s leading art and design schools, today announced it received a $1.2 million donation from Bank of America as the result of an art auction of works from the company's own collection held last night, as well as proceeds from a separate auction with Sotheby's. The donation will fund need-based scholarships for Chicago high school graduates to pursue their education at SAIC.

SAIC Purchases Land to Develop a Purpose-Built Building

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), one of the nation’s leading art and design schools, has announced the acquisition of a 56,000-square-foot plot of land. The space, which is currently being used as a parking lot, was purchased as part of the school’s Campus Master Plan, completed last year. The plan helped to identify foreseeable campus needs for the next 10 to 20 years, which includes having a new, purpose-built school building.

SAIC Announces its EXPO Chicago Programming

Chicago—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), one of the nation’s leading art and design schools, announced a partnership with EXPO Chicago, the International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art, taking place at Navy Pier from September 18–21. In its third year, the four-day art fair will showcase 25 special exhibitions and projects featuring work from 140 galleries around the world. Through a partnership with EXPO, numerous SAIC alumni and faculty will be prominently featured at the event.

SAIC Kicks Off Its 146th Year of Visiting Artists

Chicago, IL—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), one of the nation’s leading art and design schools, announced its fall line-up of renowned visiting artists and scholars, a diverse group of makers and thinkers who will lead discussions on contemporary art and culture through public lectures, symposia, performances, and screenings. The visiting artists series, produced by SAIC’s Visiting Artists Program and Conversations at the Edge, respectively, kicks off on September 2 with a lecture by internationally recognized social practice artist and innovator, Theaster Gates.
