Third Annual Literary Lions Luncheon Draws Distinguished Guests from Chicago's Cultural Community and Beyond

CHICAGO—For the third year in a row, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s (SAIC) Literary Lions Luncheon brought together a who’s who of the Chicago art world. Held on October 7 at the elegant Gold Coast club The Casino, the event attracted influential art collectors like Gilda Buchbinder and Ellen Sandor as well as museum directors, Douglas Druick (Art Institute of Chicago) and Anthony Hirschel (Smart Museum of Art).

SAIC Faculty Member Awarded 2015 MacArthur “Genius Grant”

The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has named LaToya Ruby Frazier, an Assistant Professor of Photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), as one of its 24 MacArthur fellows for 2015. Since joining SAIC in 2014, Frazier has taught courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, while continuing to develop her practice spanning photography, video, and performance.

SAIC Announces the Winners of This Year's Fellowship Competition

Chicago—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) announced the recipients of its most prestigious awards: the 2015 Jacques and Natasha Gelman Graduate Fellowships, the Claire Rosen and Samuel Edes Foundation Prize for Emerging Artists, the Toby Devan Lewis Fellowship and the Eldon Danhausen Sculpture Fellowship. These awards, among SAIC’s highest honors, enable graduating students to continue their artistic growth after Commencement through advanced independent study, art making, research and travel.

Ellen and Richard Sandor Pledge More Than $1 Million for New Scholarships at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago

CHICAGO—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), one of the nation’s leading art and design schools, announced a pledge of more than $1 million from Ellen and Richard Sandor. Ellen is a multimedia artist and an alum of SAIC, having graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in 1975. She received an Honorary Doctorate from SAIC in 2014. Ellen and Richard are longtime supporters of the school and its Gene Siskel Film Center.
