Emerging designers from four graduate design programs at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will showcase their final projects in SET OFF, a design exploration off the beaten path, presented at the SAIC Sullivan Galleries, 33 South State Street, June 8–July 5. The largest of five new exhibitions on view during NeoCon, North America's largest design exposition, SET OFF is free and open to the public Tuesday–Saturday, 11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

Nine students at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) present Functional Fiction at the 2nd annual NADA NYC, May 10–12, in booth P-14. SAIC’s first display at NADA, the exhibition is the culmination of The Collectible Object, a two-semester course conceived and taught by SAIC professors Dan Price (Sculpture) and Tim Parsons (Designed Objects).

Twelve fashion designers from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will showcase their collections in an interactive presentation at the Drake Hotel Palm Court on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Forgoing the traditional runway show in favor of a more dynamic in-the-round presentation, models on elevated platforms will present three to five looks from each designer in a display created around the Palm Court’s fountain. The School of the Art Institute of Chicago celebrates the talented students completing their undergraduate and graduate degrees this spring. MFA candidates from the Film, Video, New Media, Animation (FVNMA) and Sound programs will hold a festival showcasing their projects May 8–10. MFA graduates in SAIC’s Writing program will read their works on May 16. Both events will take place at the Gene Siskel Film Center in downtown Chicago. Chicago, IL—For over four months a team of three distinguished Guest Curators and 12 Graduate Curatorial Fellows have spent hours in SAIC’s MFA graduate studios: engaging artists, viewing current work, and envisioning the culminating exhibition. This invested approach allows for dialogue, process, and collaborative decision-making to guide the curatorial teams as they work together with 108 participating artists to bring the MFA Show to fruition over time. The results are on view April 13–May 17 in the SAIC Sullivan Galleries, 33 S.
