Grammy Award–nominated, New York Times–bestselling author David Sedaris, an alumnus of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), addressed the audience at the Literary Lions Luncheon today. SAIC faculty member Rachel Weiss, Professor in the Arts Administration and Policy department, received the Jean Goldman Book Prize at the luncheon. More than 90 talented SAIC students completing undergraduate degrees this fall will exhibit their innovative work November 2 through 16, in the Fall Undergraduate Exhibition at SAIC’s Sullivan Galleries, 33 South State Street, 7th floor. The priority scholarship deadline for the new Low-Residency Master of Fine Arts program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) is December 1. Information about how to apply for the newest curriculum from SAIC’s prestigious graduate fine arts program, currently ranked #2 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, is available at saic.edu/lowres. The program’s first summer residency in Chicago begins in 2014.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) has been awarded the JedCampus Seal from the Jed Foundation, a leading organization working to promote emotional health and prevent suicide among college and university students. The Seal recognizes schools that exhibit comprehensive mental health promotion and suicide prevention programming on campus.

This fall the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will award a juried literary prize for the best recent visual arts publication by a member of its faculty. Underwritten by art historian and Art Institute of Chicago Life Trustee Dr. Jean Goldman and known as the Jean Goldman Book Prize, the award will be presented at the Literary Lions Luncheon at noon on Thursday, October 31, at the Casino, 195 East Delaware Place.
