Commissioners of the U.S. Pavilion at the Biennale Architettura 2018 in Venice Share Exhibition Details at Send-Off Event
Commissioner Mark Kelly, of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, joined School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) President Elissa Tenny and University of Chicago (UChicago) President Robert J. Zimmer at a sendoff Tuesday for the U.S. Pavilion at the Biennale Architettura 2018, also known as the Venice Architecture Biennale.

U.S. Pavilion at Biennale Architettura 2018 Announces Details of Architects’ Projects for Dimensions of Citizenship
Chicago, March 13, 2018—The U.S. Pavilion at the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, commissioned by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and The University of Chicago (UChicago), today announced new details about the exhibition Dimensions of Citizenship. The exhibition’s curators have commissioned seven architecture practices to explore how citizenship may be defined, constructed, enacted, contested, or expressed in the built environment at seven different spatial scales.

Marking the 50th anniversary of the Tet Offensive, one of the largest military campaigns of the Vietnam War, Apocalypse Then: The Vietnam War on Film features a new film about the Vietnam and Cambodian Wars each week, followed by a discussion.

U.S. Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale to Feature Film and Video Artworks That Expand the Exhibition Dimensions of Citizenship
Chicago, December 14, 2017—The curators of Dimensions of Citizenship, the U.S. Pavilion exhibition at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale, today announced that they will present film and video works that explore multiple perspectives—narrative, speculative, or impressionistic—in the pavilion’s rotunda.
