Parents: Career and Professional Experience
At the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), we don't define our students' careers. We help them define it themselves. We provide the interdisciplinary education and professional development resources that offer many opportunities for students to put their thinking into practice. Our Career and Professional Experience (CAPX) office assists students and alumni with developing their résumés and portfolios, finding funding and writing grant proposals, pursuing exhibition opportunities, and developing networking and interviewing skills in addition to connecting with a plethora of jobs, residencies, and internships at places like Pixar Animation Studio; Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP architects; WLS-TV; or the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Our graduates move on to do great things; more than 17,000 alumni impact the world and their communities through their work, scholarship, teaching, and service. As artists, designers, entrepreneurs, curators, writers, historians, filmmakers, musicians, educators, administrators, community leaders, activists, and preservationists, SAIC's alumni utilize their interdisciplinary education to challenge the status quo. They provide creative and innovative solutions that have a positive impact on every aspect of our lives. As alumni, they can take advantage of one of our networking events held all around the country and access our online opportunities database and alumni networking sites. Whatever the case, they will be surrounded by the top minds in any industry. So however they end up defining their careers, they will have the knowledge, perspective, and insight to do so.
