The School of the Art Institute of Chicago celebrates the talented students completing their undergraduate and graduate degrees this spring. MFA candidates from the Film, Video, New Media, Animation (FVNMA) and Sound programs will hold a festival showcasing their projects May 8–10. MFA graduates in SAIC’s Writing program will read their works on May 16. Both events will take place at the Gene Siskel Film Center in downtown Chicago. The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will host THE WALK 2013, its annual fashion benefit, in Millennium Park on Friday, May 3, 2013. ELLE Fashion News Director Anne Slowey will emcee the event, which will honor designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte with the Legend of Fashion Award and SAIC fashion supporter Melissa Sage Fadim with the Heart of Fashion Award.

Chicago, IL—For over four months a team of three distinguished Guest Curators and 12 Graduate Curatorial Fellows have spent hours in SAIC’s MFA graduate studios: engaging artists, viewing current work, and envisioning the culminating exhibition. This invested approach allows for dialogue, process, and collaborative decision-making to guide the curatorial teams as they work together with 108 participating artists to bring the MFA Show to fruition over time. Chicago—On October 31, 2013 the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will award a juried literary prize for the best recent visual arts publication by a member of its faculty. Underwritten by art historian and Art Institute of Chicago Life Trustee Dr. Jean Goldman and known as the Jean Goldman Book Prize, the award will be announced at a kick-off reception benefiting SAIC on April 3 co-chaired by Karen Frank, Jean Goldman, and Ellen Sandor.
