"Apichatpong Weerasethakul: The Serenity Of Madness" Makes North American Debut at SAIC

CHICAGO–The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), a global leader in art and design education, announces the North American debut of Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s exhibition “The Serenity of Madness.” Exploring threads of sociopolitical commentary, this new solo exhibition uniquely presents rarely seen short films and video installations by the Thai artist, alongside his photography, sketches and archival materials.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) has named Daniel Eisenberg, Professor in the Film, Video, New Media, and Animation and Visual and Critical Studies departments, and Ellen Rothenberg, Adjunct Professor in Fiber and Material Studies, as the inaugural joint Faculty Research Fellows of the Institute for Curatorial Research and Practice.

Alumni in Running for Gary Public Art Contest

Downtown Gary will be getting new public art thanks to its inaugural public art competition. Sponsored by the Legacy Foundation, the contest is offering awards ranging from $25,000 to $3,000, and SAIC alumni are included in the list of 15 finalists. Damon Reed (BFA 1999) and Lauren Pacheco (MA 2015) are both in the running for the competition's top prize, $25,000.
