Walter E. Massey Joins Push to Bring Presidential Library to the South Side
SAIC President Walter E. Massey has been selected to serve on the University of Chicago Community Advisory Board to collaborate on a bid to bring the Obama Presidential Library to Chicago's South Side. "Such a location would reflect the personal and professional lives of the Obamas, as well as their commitments to society," said University of Chicago President Robert J. Zimmer in a statement. "A presidential library would mark a watershed moment for the South Side, catalyzing significant and sustained economic opportunity in an area poised to make the most of such promise." The library would also present the entire city with new and exciting cultural and programmatic possibilities. Massey's appointment reflects his extensive community leadership experience and SAIC's considerable influence throughout Chicago.
