Sun-Times Profiles Legend of Fashion Recipient Nick Cave
On April 25 the Chicago Sun-Times profiled SAIC faculty member and 2014 Legend of Fashion Award recipient Nick Cave (Fashion) in “Nick Cave Emerging More Fully in Chicago.” Cave will receive the award at SAIC’s annual fashion show and benefit THE WALK, which kicks off on Friday, May 2, in Millennium Park. Festivities will include Cave’s debut of three mini-performances, accompanied by “Chicago house music, ‘extreme vogueing’ and kids from the South Side,” reports Adrienne Samuels Gibbs. “This is rare,” she notes, as the majority of Cave’s performances have taken place outside of Chicago. “We’ve got to understand what a talent we have here in Chicago, and having him perform at home is fitting,” says THE WALK co-chair Margaret MacLean. “Have you seen him perform before? His performances are like no other. They’re multidimensional and multidisciplinary. He’s combining so many things: art and fashion and sculpture and performance artistry. He is iconic.” Visit saicfashion.org for more information about SAIC’s Fashion 2014 and THE WALK.
