Solo Exhibitions by SAIC Artists Top Trib’s Winter Preview
In the January 3 edition of the Chicago Tribune, contributor Claudine Ise hails winter 2014 “the season of the solo show,” highlighting upcoming one-person exhibitions from five members of the SAIC community. “A simple concept yields profound results” in Carrie Schneider’s (MFA 2007) Reading Women at moniquemeloche, says Ise. Schneider will mark the closing of the exhibition with a lecture at SAIC’s Sullivan Galleries on February 1. Additional highlights include Fearful Symmetries, a retrospective of the groundbreaking performance artist and Professor Emireta Faith Wilding (Performance), open January 10 through February 11 at Threewalls; William J. O’Brien’s (Ceramics, MFA 2005) first museum survey at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago from January 25–May 18; Aroundcenter, Jan Tichy’s (Sculpture, MFA 2009) “Cultural Center treasure hunt,” open February 1–April 27; and Chromatic Patterns, “a double dose of vibrant murals” by Judy Ledgerwood (MFA 1984) showcased at the Graham Foundation from January 23–April 5 and the Smart Museum of Art through July 20.
