SAIC Exhibits at 900 North Michigan Shops

SAIC has partnered with the 900 North Michigan Shops to present innovative work by students and alumni in a new setting. Located on the 6th floor of the shopping center across from Bloomingdale’s, SAIC at 900 features rotating exhibitions of interdisciplinary art and design on the north end of the Magnificent Mile. The space opened December 26 with an exhibition of work by Jeremiah Jones (MFA 2013), who creates formal experiments in animation and video. For this project he has looked to historical representations of the American West as depicted by the painter Albert Bierstadt, creating work composed with images collected while Jones traveled the United States retracing routes of Western exploration. In looking at these places and images, he considered how our contemporary thinking is inextricably tied to the very myths we criticize and rewrite. Jones's work has been shown nationally and internationally, including the Museum of Modern Art New York and the Guggenheim Museum, New York City.
