Jack Waters and Sarah Schulman star in the docudrama “Jason and Shirley,” directed by Stephen Winter.

The most recent film by Stephen Winter (BFA 1991), Jason and Shirley, debuted at BAMcinemaFest in June and was reviewed in the New Yorker as “one of this year’s finest offerings.” Jason and Shirley is a docudrama of the night in 1966 when Shirley Clarke filmed Jason Holliday for her film, Portrait of Jason. Winter presents “a complex and anguished view of the power relations, societal conflicts, and cruel sacrifices from which Clarke’s film arose.”
