Runway Rumble

SAIC alumna Patricia Michaels (1991–93) is a promising competitor on the current season of Project Runway.  In an interview posted to the program’s website, the designer states her upbringing in Taos Pueblo, New Mexico, and her strong connection with her native heritage have greatly contributed to her unique aesthetic. “I think I could win Project Runway because no one else can do what I do,” she says.  “I create from the drape to the pattern to the fabrication to the design. My garments have meaning behind them that comes from a very old culture then brought into a very contemporary realm. I hope to win, and I hope to continue to be able to design.” Michaels also reveals her home and closet in two short videos
