Roger Brown's First International Exhibition "Is More Than Just a Survey"

This week international media outlets praised Roger Brown—His American Icons, the first international exhibition of the SAIC alumnus' work, presented at Hughes Gallery in Sydney, Australia, through April 29. Organized by Gallery Director Evan Hughes, the exhibition “reveals an immensely talented artist who exhibited a masterful command of the painted surface, an intuitive understanding of composition and perspective, a highly developed sense of pictorial influence, as well as a strong opinion of the role and status of painting,” says Nicholas Forrest of Boulin Artinfo. “To the credit of Hughes,” Forrest adds, “the exhibition is more than just a survey of Brown’s work; it is a scholarly celebration curated in conjunction with the Roger Brown Study Collection (RBSC) at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.” Learn more about the exhibition in reviews published by the Sydney Morning Herald and ArtsHub
