Press Follows Michelle Grabner's Appointment as Curator of Whitney Biennial

The visual arts community took note nationwide when New York Times "Inside Art" columnist Carol Vogel broke the news on November 29 that Michelle Grabner, Professor and Chair of SAIC’s Painting and Drawing department, will be one of three curators of the 2014 Whitney Biennial. Among many other outlets, the Chicago Tribune, Huffington Post, The New York Observer, and ArtInfo jumped right on the development. Newcity art editor Jason Foumberg gathered comments on Grabner from no less than nine major voices in Chicagoland on December 2, and Time Out Chicago Art & Design Editor Lauren Weinberg posted a substantive email interview with Grabner on December 5. Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel writer Mary Louise Schumacher also managed a lengthy interview with the busy artist. SAIC's own announcement of the news remains online in the SAIC Press Room.
