Humanizing Technology

“Meet Donghoon Chang: the Jony Ive of Samsung”—featured in the January 10 edition of the Financial Times—spotlights SAIC alumnus Donghoon Chang (MFA 1991), executive vice president and head of the design strategy team at Samsung’s corporate design center. A major presence at this month’s International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Chang and fellow Samsung representatives met with reporters to discuss their new “design identity 3.0.”  “Samsung’s design goal is to make products that are unique, original and innovative,” Chang said. “This philosophy can be seen in all our products consistently.”  Chang also promoted Samsung’s efforts to “humanize technology,” detailing the company’s history of design “firsts,” including “2005’s V-shaped TVs and a claimed breakthrough in internal mobile-phone antennas in 2006.”
