On November 16 local Long Island publication the Sayville-Bayport Patch highlighted the six-month anniversary of the Paper Doll Boutique, owned and operated by SAIC alumna Dominique Maciejka (2002–05). The Boutique “not only carries some of the most unique clothing and accessory inventories found on the south shore,” states reporter Judy Motti, “but it’s also fast becoming known as the place to have a fun night out, learn about fashion and even pick up a new skill—such as belly dancing.” Much more than just a shop owner, Maciejka “is a big proponent of enjoying fashion and helping shoppers learn about vintage clothing.” Her unique, multifaceted approach to retail has won over legions of loyal customers, including fashion icon Michael Kors. On November 18, the boutique celebrated six successful months in business by hosting a grand re-opening party. Shoppers indulged in a night of “retro glamour” which featured a runway show, a belly dance performance, special sales, and refreshments.
