Faculty and Alumni Shine In Group Show SpotLight'
On April 18, Newcity writer Nicole White recommended group exhibition SpotLight, on view at the Elmhurst Art Museum through April 27. Emphasizing “how light plays a varied role in several contemporary artists’ practices,” SpotLight features light-based sculptures, installations, and videos by eight SAIC community members, including Paola Cabal (Painting and Drawing), Dana Carter (Fiber and Material Studies), Dana Major (MFA 2011), Daniel Miller (Art and Technology Studies, MFA 1997), Jeroen Nelemans (MFA 2007), Jason Peot (1992–94), Jan Tichy (Art and Technology Studies, MFA 2009), and Monika Wulfers (MFA 1973). “While the exhibition is structured around a very broad theme and is fairly didactic in its approach, the ten artists included all astutely engage with the topic at hand,” says White. “It is a solid introduction to installation and light-based works. The light does an excellent job of drawing us in.”
