This summer, Chicago Line Cruises has teamed up with SAIC and city organizations for a series of cruises. The Eco Boat Cruises shine a light on the Chicago River, and its importance to Chicago’s ecological history and sustainable future. The cruises begin at McClurg Court and tickets are half price for SAIC students.
Experts in the fields of ecology, planning, and design, give lectures and presentations onboard. Linda Keane, SAIC professor in the Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Designed Objects department will moderate the conversation between Sarah Dunn and Martin Felsen of Urban Lab for the cruise, Growing Water & Food & Bio Boulevards, on October 16.
Other upcoming sessions include Life On, Above and Below the River on August 7 and People to the River on September 11. Topics of discussion will focus on issues such as ecological conservation, achieving ecological balance in urban settings, and fresh water as social justice through balanced urban and economical development.
