Camilo Medina (BFA 2012), Guillermo Rodriguez (BFA 2013), Javier Forero, and Pierce Codina are members of the band Divino Niño who performed at the first Demolición music festival, a mostly annual festival celebrating Latinx-fronted acts, which had its latest iteration on May 11. The festival has proved to be an extensive part of creating space within the Latinx music scene and has encouraged other musicians to get involved. In a recent article with the Chicago Readermembers of the band are highlighted in an in-depth article detailing the history of the Demolición festival and its ambition to continue to bring variation to both lineups and audiences. The creators of the festival, Ed McMenamin and Alex Fryer, "want Demolición to celebrate and connect Latinx musicians from across the diaspora and help them feel comfortable in Chicago's rock scene."
